Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin. Noel MacGovern was born on 25 December 1906 and was articled to MCDONNELL MCDONNELL , DIXON & DOWNES. B DIXON & DOWNES. B y 1929 he was working for Pembroke Urban District Council. This was apparently followed by a spell in the Office of Public Works. He was in private practice in Merrion Square, when he was appointed to the staff of the Housing and City Architect's Department of Dublin Corporation in 1948.

In 1962 MacGovern was selected by the United Nations to advise on housing in the Somali republic. He remained in Somalia until 1964 when he returned to Dublin to become senior architect in the City Architect's department. He died suddenly and unexpectedly on 12 August 1967, leaving a widow and family.
