Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Amateur artist and antiquarian, for a full biography of whom see W.G. Strickland, A Dictionary of Irish Artists, I, 51-53, and Builder 27, 2 Oct 1869, 781. He is probably the same person as the William Beauford of Dublin who submitted a plan in the competition for the Royal Exchange, Dublin, in 1768.(1) Beauford contributed drawings of antiquities and papers to Anthologia Hibernica. The subjects of his papers include architectural history and theory. He also contributed to the Philosophical Magazine(1802), J.C. Walker's Historical Memoirs(1786) and Vallancey's Collectanea. His Plan of the City and Suburbs of Cork was published in 1801.(2)
