Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer and 'surveyor of public works' in Belfast in the 1830s. He died on 12 January 1840, aged thirty-four, and was buried in the Hastings family plot in the new burying ground in Clifton Street, Belfast. The plaque recording this information was erected by WILLIAM HASTINGS  WILLIAM HASTINGS in 1860, indicating that Joseph Hastings was a relative, perhaps a brother.(1)
