Builder, of Dublin. Timothy Murphy, who worked with his son PATRICK J. MURPHY  PATRICK J. MURPHY as Timothy Murphy & Son, is said to have been employed over a long period in building work at Guinness's Brewery. It was presumably for this reason that his firm was appointed builder for the controversial second phase of the restoration of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, which took place in the early 1860s under the sponsorship of Benjamin Lee Guinness. Other works by the firm included the new wing of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin,(1) and, apparently, 'some of the smaller (very Tudor) stations of the Great Southern and Western Railway, in the County Kildare'.(2)

Addresses:(3) 44 Lower Mecklenburgh Street, <=1839->=1844; 91 Amiens Street, 1847; 89 Amiens Street, 1853, later extending his premises to include No. 88 Amiens Street.
