Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect, for whom see Jill Lever, ed., Catalogue of the Drawings Collection of the Royal Institute of British Architects L-N (1973), 66, and Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA, 2001), II, 152-3. In Ireland Edward Maufe acted as consulting architect to Queen's University, Belfast, for many years   In the Sir Edward Maufe collection in the Victoria & Albert Museum, RIBA Drawings collection, there are several designs for Queen's University, namely for the Whitla Hall (1937-9,1945-9), the Geology building (1949-54), the Biology & Dentistry buildings, a boat house (1948) and a war memorial (1949).  There are also two folders of job correspondence relating to the boar house and war memorial.  A design for a rose bowl presented by Maufe to the university in 1954 may represent the termination of his consultancy.  The same collection also contains drawings for the Belfast City Cemetery (1945) and  a survey of the Church of Ireland graveyard at Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh, for the Irish War Graves Commission (1947).
