Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), I, 883. Bernard Hebblethwaite was working in the office of a Dublin architect at the outbreak of the First World War. He enlisted immediately and served in the Royal Army Medical Corps first in France and subsequently in Egypt.(1) After the war he worked for the Public Works Ministry in Cairo. His drawings of the new parliament buildings in Cairo were published in the Architect's Journal in 1923.(2)
