Architect, possibly English,(1) who exhibited landscapes including a small oil painting of the Greek Church at Wiesbaden at the RHA in 1872 and 1873(2) from 4 Trafalgar Terrace, Monkstown, which became WILLIAM MANSFIELD MITCHELL' WILLIAM MANSFIELD MITCHELL' s address in 1873. Charles Joseph Allen appears in the Dublin directories for the years 1876 to 1880, excepting 1878. During the missing year he may have been trying his fortunes in Limerick, where a C.J. Allen is listed as an architect and 'CE' at 66 George Street in Bassett's Limerick Directory for 1877 to 1878.
