GILES, FRANCIS #
- Born: 1787 Died: 1847
English surveyor and civil engineer, for biography of whom see DNB and Min.ProcInst.CE 7 (1848), 9. In Ireland Giles was carried out surveys of the River Liffey at Dublin Harbour and of Kingstown Harbour. Together with GEORGE HALPIN he directed the construction of the Great North Wall at Dublin and he was also responsible for the design of Courtown Harbour.
