Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Building contractor, of Market Street, Cavan. William Hague was born in 1806, a son of William Hague, of Plush, Co. Cavan, later of Kinnypottle, near Cavan town. He became a successful building contractor in Cavan, where his father had acquired extensive property; in 1863 he is described as 'an old established and highly respectable builder, who has executed most of the principal works in his neighbourhood'.(1) He died in 1888. By his wife, Catherine (d.1851)(2), whom he married in February 1833, he had five sons: WILLIAM HAGUE [2] WILLIAM HAGUE [2] , James, who committed suicide in 1881,(3) Robert, who took over his father's business, John and Francis, who died in infancy.(4) HUGH HAGUE  HUGH HAGUE was presumably a near relative.
