GORDON, JOSEPH DAVIDSON
- Born: 1894/95 Died: 1978/79
Architect, of Belfast. According to the 1911 census, Joseph Gordon, son of Joseph Gordon, draper, of 1 Conway Square, Newtownards, Co. Down, and his wife, Charlotte, was born in Co. Down in 1894 or 1895. He probably started his architectural career in the office of FREDERICK HENRY TULLOCH and NICHOLAS FITZSIMONS , who both proposed him for election as an associate of the RIBA in 1920.(1) He had set up in private practice in Belfast by the beginning of 1927.(2) In 1934 he was appointed surveyor to Lurgan Urban Council.(3) He remained surveyor for Lurgan until 1947, when he was appointed county planning officer for Co. Armagh, a position which he held until 1974. He died in 1978 or 1979.(4)
