Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin and Galway. Dermot Gogarty, second son of Oliver St John Gogarty, was born on 5 September 1908 and educated at Downside and Pembroke College, Cambridge. He worked in the office of VINCENT KELLY VINCENT KELLY (1) in Dublin before setting up in independent practice in Merrion Square in 1936.(2) He moved to Galway in 1948.(3) According to Bence-Jones, he 'worked under Lutyens'.(4) In 1935 Gogarty married Mary Carmel, daughter of John Joseph Esmonde of Drominagh, Co. Tipperary, from whom he was later divorced.
