Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect who emigrated to the United States in 1795, for biography of whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (3rd edn., 1995), 443-444, and Macmillan Encyclopedia of Architects. In Ireland he is said to have designed a house called Som(m)erville in Co. Offaly for the Curtis family,(1) presumably some time between 1784, when he became a pupil of JAMES WYATT JAMES WYATT , and his departure for the United States in 1795.(2)
