Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Stucco artist, who was employed at Loughcrew House in the 1820s and who is buried in the graveyard of the ruined church in the demesne. His headstone bears the following inscription: 'Sacred to the Memory of Alexander Duggan, Stucco Plasterer and Artist who dept. this life Feby 16th 1831 Aged 45 years. This monument was erected by a few of his admiring friends as a small Testimonial of their regard for his personal merits and professional abilities of which the the contiguous mansion of Loughcrew abounds with many brilliant specimens.'(1)
