Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and surveyor, of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, and Dublin, active in the 1850s and 1860s. William Robert Farrell may have been a son or other relation of the builder GEORGE FARRELL GEORGE FARRELL .   According to an advertisement which he placed in the Freeman's Journal on 19 and 20 June 1855 on setting up in private practice in Dublin, he had served his apprenticeship under JOHN SKIPTON MULVANY  JOHN SKIPTON MULVANY and had then 'conducted business extensively under the Commissioners of Public Works'.(1) In 1859 he formed a brief partnership with ISAAC FARRELL  ISAAC FARRELL which had ended by January 1862, when he moved his premises from Lincoln Place to Westland Row.(2)

RIAI: elected fellow, 21 May 1863;(3) struck off, 1866.(4)
