Architect, of Belfast. James Ewart appears to have been a relative - possibly a brother - of Sir William Ewart, 1st Bt. (d. 1889), cotton and linen manufacturer of Belfast. He is listed as an architect in the Belfast and Province of Ulster Directory (1852)
with an address at 29 Donegall Street. He designed Ewart's Mill, Belfast, 1865, the boundary wall of Edenderry Mill, Belfast, 1869, and an extension to Ewart's Warehouse, Belfast, in 1883.(1) He was also an entrant in the Belfast Municipal Buildings competition of 1869.(2)
