Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Assistant county surveyor for Co. Down. John McKean Elliott, a son of David Elliott, national teacher, of Cyprus Park, Belfast, and younger brother of DAVID BEGGS ELLIOTT DAVID BEGGS ELLIOTT , was born on 23 January 1880 and educated at Campbell College, Belfast, from 1894 to 1899. He studied engineering at Queen's College, Belfast, obtaining the BE degree of the Royal University. He then worked for White & Co. on the electrification of the Belfast tramway system and also in London. By 1921 he had been appointed a 'special' assistant county surveyor for Co. Down(1) but had left the post by 1933.(2) He died in 1938.
