Born: 1744
Died: 1817

Author, inventor and amateur architect, of Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford, for biography of whom see Oxford DNB and the entry by John S. Moore in DIB. Edgeworth is said to have designed the spire of the Protestant church at Edgeworthstown(1) and to have collaborated with DANIEL AUGUSTUS BEAUFORT  DANIEL AUGUSTUS BEAUFORT on the design of the Church of Ireland church at Collon, Co. Louth.(2) He remodelled his house at Edgeworthstown after inheriting it in 1782,(3) and presumably also designed the 'very pretty' small lodge for Ballinalee, Co. Longford, mentioned in 1787 by Daniel Augustus Beaufort, who made a sketch of the plan and elevation.(4)   He also laid out the road from Bridge of Tarmonbarry to Lung Bridge in Co. Roscommon, work which was continued by ALEXANDER NIMMO [1]  ALEXANDER NIMMO [1] and completed by JAMES CLARKE [1]. JAMES CLARKE [1]. (5)
