Architect and engineer of Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, active from 1909 or earlier until about 1949 or 1950. Joseph Dunne, son of Timothy Dunne, mechanical engineer, of Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, and his wife, Dora, was born in Co. Galway in 1878 or 1879. He was appointed an assistant county surveyor for Co. Galway probably circa 1908 and for a few months in 1909 acted as temporary county surveyor for the East Riding of the county before the appointment of JOHN MORAN to the permanent post. I n the summer of 1909 he was appointed town surveyor for Ballinasloe, filling the post left vacant by J. HARDIMAN , who had resigned. He held the position, later designated surveyor to Ballinasloe Urban District Council, until 1949 or 1950.
