Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Town surveyor of Kingstown (Dun Laoghaire) from 1872 or earlier until circa 1890. Francis Arthur Doyle, who was born in about 1823, was a pupil of CHARLES GERARD FORTH CHARLES GERARD FORTH , county surveyor for Co. Carlow, and then worked on the Waterford & Limerick Railway as a district engineer under CHARLES VIGNOLES CHARLES VIGNOLES . He joined the staff of Dublin Corporation as an assistant city engineer in 1851. By 1872 he had become town surveyor of Kingstown. During his tenure of the post, he was also responsible for water supply or sewerage schemes at Strabane, Letterkenny and Nenagh. He was succeeded by JOSEPH W. BERRY  JOSEPH W. BERRY circa 1890(2) and died in 1894 or 1895.(3)
