Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, builder and merchant of Launceston, Tasmania, for life and works of whom see Australian Dictionary of Biography I, 304-5. According to this source he was born in 1808 and had received some training in architecture before he emigrated with his father, JOHN DELITTLE JOHN DELITTLE , and other members of his family to Hobart, Tasmania, in 1830. It is possible that he is the same person as the ROBERT DOOLITTLE  ROBERT DOOLITTLE who won awards at the Royal Dublin Society's School of Architectural Drawing in 1823 and 1824. Robert Delittle set up in business as an architect, builder and builders' supplier in Launceston, and was connected with the design and construction of many buildings in northern Tasmania. He had become a prominent citizen of Launceston by the time of his death on 11 February 1876.

A 'Mr. Robt. D'Little' of North King Street, Dublin, was a subscriber to William Stitt's The Practical Architect's Ready Assistant; or Builder's Complete Companion(Dublin, 1819).
