Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Amateur architect? At Delphi Lodge, Co. Mayo, there is a sketch elevation of an unexecuted proposal for the house by Henry Blake of circa 1820.(1) The house was built as a hunting lodge by the Howe Peter, second Marquess of Sligo, and the sketch may have been by one of his friends. There were several landed families named Blake in Cos. Galway and Mayo at the time: Henry Blake could be Henry Blake (1789-1856) of Renvyle, Go. Galway, Henry Blake of Springvale, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, or perhaps Major Henry Blake (d. between 1832 and 1844) of Fisher Hill, Co. Mayo.
