Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Acting county engineer for Co. Galway from 1956 until 1958. James Collins, who was born in Glenamaddy, Co. Galway, in 1893 or 1894, graduated with a BE degree from University College, Galway, in 1917 and then joined the staff of Galway County Council as an Assistant County Engineer for North Galway. He was also engineer to Glenamaddy Rural District Council.(1) In 1940 he was promoted Chief Assistant County Engineer and in 1956 acting County Engineer, a post which he held until his retirement in 1958. He died in 1959 or 1960.
